About the local launches:
1.MACKENZIE LAUNCH, 2250 feet above sea level.
Accessed by MacKenzie Recreational Foresty Road
This is our primary launch, we can drive to it and it has a large parking lot, an outhouse, a picnic table and a great place to topland and fold our equipment on the grass.
The access is easier on a 4x4 as the road is not paved, is fairly steep and has many waterbars.LANDINGS IN PEMBERTON VALLEY:
We have now a 25 acres field to land as an alternativ LZ while soccer is on at the PCC field. It is very safe, perfect as a bale-out when the south-east wind quicks in..
You are still requested to use the community center field as a main option. We are thanksful to the owners and the leasers of that amazing parcel to let us use it, so please be respectful and read all the informations at launch before flying. Having HPAC insurance is mandatory and being a WCSC member support this site. Waivers need to be signed for both in any case.
2. MILLER LAUNCH, accessed by Miller Creek Recreational Forestry Road.
This
launch is often used as a hiking place to fly in the fall when the
conditions are lighter on the other side of the Valley. It is a good
hour of 4x4 (necessary) and another 1h15 walk. Stunnning view and
amazing flight with a great glide sometimes all the way back to
Pemberton. (Bugs are really bad in summer, repellent a must
and it is better to wait mid-summer that all the snow has melted).
